a bad bird & some new wheels

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving, y’all!

Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for this year. I was overcome with thankfulness on Thursday as I thought about how much my life has changed in the last year. On Thanksgiving day last year, I was wondering if I’d ever have the chance to be a mom. This year, we celebrated with our baby boy.

As a side note, a year ago today I found out I was pregnant. How things have changed in the last 365 days!

Thanksgiving this year was fun until we ended up with food poisoning from our turkey. We had a bad bird. Oh my. I wouldn’t wish food poisoning on anyone. We were very sick but we are on the mend.

In other exciting news, some of you may know I’ve driven a very, very old (probably antique) vehicle for a long time. I could have bought a new one a long time ago but I loved not having a car payment… so I swallowed my pride and kept driving my 1991 Accord. This is the vehicle I had in high school. I’ve had the car now for 12 years, and honestly… with a baby in the family now, it was just time to move on from Rhonda the Honda. This weekend I FINALLY made the leap and bought a 2013 Toyota Highlander! I absolutely love it and am having so much fun exploring the features that my Honda didn’t have… like a CD player, a functioning radio, remote entry…. HA! Anyway, I’m so excited!

Now… onward to Christmas!!

That’s a 22 year jump! I made a 13 year jump this year and thought that was big.

I love that you said you COULD buy a new one but didn’t need to or want the car payment. So, so wise. That’s not very “America today”. My mechanic says I drive cars til they die. Well, not quite, but I keep them a long time. Why not? I know this one will be safe and reliable for your family.

So sorry about the food poisoning. Yuck-o, Melissa. The responses on Twitter were kind.
